FAQ

Common Questions

Where does the interview take place?
Wherever the storyteller feels most comfortable. Usually, this is their own living room, sitting in their favorite chair. It can also be a home office, a quiet backyard patio, or any meaningful location. We just need a relatively quiet space where we can control the ambient noise (turning off loud AC units or fans during the recording).
What if the person being interviewed gets nervous or freezes up?
This is completely normal, and it’s exactly why we don’t run a rigid, high-pressure set. We keep our gear low-profile and start with very easy, casual conversation to let everyone warm up. If they need to stop, grab a glass of water, or take a break, we pause the clock. We are there to guide them gently, never to rush them.
How should we prepare for the interview?
Before the shoot, we will collaborate with you to outline the core chapters of their life you want to cover. We provide a list of guided questions, but we encourage you to think about specific anecdotes, family inside jokes, or life lessons you want to make sure are recorded.
How do we get our old photos and home videos into the final film?
Once the interview is complete, you can provide us with digital copies of old photos, scanned documents, or vintage home video clips. Our editors will seamlessly weave these into the film as "B-roll" right when the storyteller is talking about that specific memory or time period.
Can two people (like my parents) be interviewed together?
Absolutely. We love filming couples or siblings together. It often brings out incredible chemistry, shared laughter, and different perspectives on the same historical events. We will adjust our microphone setup to ensure both voices are captured perfectly.
What happens if the interview runs longer than two hours?
Our base session is structurally capped at two hours of filming, which is usually the perfect amount of time before a storyteller starts to get tired. However, if you have a massive family history to cover, we can absolutely extend the session or schedule a multi-day shoot for an additional fee.
How do you handle privacy and sensitive family stories?
With absolute confidentiality. Your family's stories are yours alone. We never post your interview clips, raw files, or finished films to our website, YouTube, or social media. Everything is handled on secure, private drives. If your family requires an extra layer of legal privacy, we can execute a formal Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for an additional fee.
